I must admit that in the beginning, it is a pain in the behind to go through every command in IL2, set a combination for it (make a list/table on paper or a seperate monitor) and then assign these commands to buttons in a meaningful and intuitive way - but it is worth it. Or maybe the different modes can represent different tactical situations - TO and Landing, Combat, whatever. So you can have, for example, one button solely for engine controls. mapped to one (1) button on your stick - and it has like 20 of them buttons. The advantage of this is that with the profile editor software, you can have 6 (six, maybe even more) keys/commands/macros/. Attention: on my stick, names could not be longer than 15 characters because if they were too long to be displayed on the MFD it would just get stuck, and could only be solved by rebooting.Īnyway, when you press this button now, the stick or the software or whatever emulates(word?) the appropriate keypress(es) and there you go.

Name the new command something meaningful so it says 'Bailing out.' or so on the MFD at the throttle.

In the profile editor, find the button you want to assign the bailout-command to, click the field under it and press your combination like you would do ingame. For example, let's say you have set Ctrl+E to bail out in the game.

Ideally, those keystrokes should be set to invoke some sort of action in IL2, in the ingame configuration. (Note I 'only' have X-52 standart, not the pro version.)īasically, you map keystrokes and -combinations (on the keyboard) to buttons on the stick. About your error, Redspade, maybe use Admin rights? That worked on my XP pooota. However, to fully use the X-52's potential, I suggest familiarizing yourself(ves) with the profileeditor.exe, it's pretty rad. 110G there has the easy way to go at it, and it will very likely be fully sufficient.
